The Dade County Board of Education voted to approve the hiring of Josh Ingle as Superintendent of Dade County Schools on Monday, July 5.

Josh Ingle has been the Interim Superintendent since the retirement of previous superintendent Dr. Jan Harris, at the end of 2020.

The Board of Education received 16 applications for the position. Ingle was named as the sole finalist.

“I am excited. The last six months have certainly played into my favor. It’s not like I have to get to know anything, so we’re just going to continue on,” Ingle said. “We have a lot of momentum going on right now.

Ingle noted that he was looking forward to going on vacation in a few weeks, but that when he gets back, he would hit the ground running, and get ready to start a new school year.

Ingle has many years’ experience within the Dade County School system, including time as principal of Davis Elementary School, principal of Dade County High School and Assistant Principal of Dade Elementary School. He was also Director of Federal Programs, Capital Projects, Safety and SIS.

The new school year starts on Thursday, Aug. 5.
