VENITA ARNOLD
Venita M. Arnold, 91, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Frank and Dixie Miller, and son, Gregory Arnold.
Survivors include her son, Jerome Arnold (Susan Gridley); granddaughter, Julia K. (Cody) Bowers; great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Destiny Bowers.
Private services will be held.

MATTIE FORTNER
Mattie Mae Lovvorn Fortner, 91, of Wildwood, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021.
She was born in Huntsville, Ala., on March 4, 1930, to the late E.R. and Cora Mae Small Lovvorn. She worked for many years in the textile business, retiring from Nation Hosiery Mill in 1992. Mattie was a faithful member of the Tiftonia Holiness Church and was most happy when she was in church and with her family. Her kind and sweet spirit was a blessing to all those that she came into contact with and she will be sorely missed.
Fortner was preceded in death by her husband, James Aubrey Fortner; siblings, Jewel, Lowell, Vincent, Ray, and Natalie Lovvorn and Joyce Ann Walls.
Survivors include her children James and Judy Fortner, Kenny and Jennie Fortner, Ray and Sherry Fortner, Barry and Kelli Fortner, Charity and Chris Lowrance; grandchildren, Angela Fortner, Shannon and Stacey Fortner, Samantha and Jason Michaels, Sabrina and David Gilbert, Serena and Josh Holcomb, Dawn and Aaron Kendrick, Abigail Fortner, Clayton and Kellie Lowrance; great-grandchildren, Aydan Fortner, Shiane, Steele, and Shade Fortner, Katrina and Jordan (Brandon) Slay, Kaylie Michaels, Mahaylie, Makenna, Dawson, and Owen Gilbert, Nataleigh and Zeke Holcomb, Whitney and Savannah Craig; special niece, Peggy Jean Wooten; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, April 12 at the Tiftonia Holiness Church with Rev. Troy Lawson and Rev. Edwin Spurgeon officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Bryant, Ala., with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

ANNIE HICKS
Annie I. Hicks, 84, passed away April 8, 2021.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed working in her flowers and garden. Annie was a member of United Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Clark; son, Stevie Hicks; parents, Obie and Mary Frazier.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, George “G.W.” Hicks; daughters, Sue James and Diane Morrow; sons, Kenneth Hicks and Ernest Hicks; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 13 in the Trenton chapel with Rev. Brad Bridges officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

EMMA POWELL
Emma Lee “Granny” Powell, 91, of Rising Fawn, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 201.
Emma was born in Valley Head, Ala., to the late Charlie “Doodle” and Ruby Wallin. She had lived in Cedar Bluff, Ala., on Weiss Lake for some time but spent most of her time in Rising Fawn. She was employed with DuPont and retired from Trenton Spinning Mill.
“Granny” was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lamar Powell; sisters, Pauline Bradford, Louise Wallace and Eloise Wallin, and brothers, Roy, Clyde, and Bob Wallin.
Survivors include her daughter, Melodie (Kenneth) Owens; sons, Michael (Sandy) Powell and Eddie Powell; granddaughters, Faith (Harold) Smith and Brittany Austin; grandson, Dustin (Jordan) Powell; great-granddaughters, Maleah and Ashlyn Smith; great-grandson, Wyatt Austin; brothers, Hugh Don and Bill Wallin.
Funeral services were Friday, April 9 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Sims officiating. Interment was in Miller Cemetery, Rising Fawn.

Steven Alan Stevens, 56, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
He was a member of Shanty Town Church and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Stevens.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce Stevens; sister, Teresa (Skip) Cowen; nephew, Brandon Stevens; uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services were Friday, April 9 in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Tommy Landers officiating. Burial was in the Shanty Town Cemetery.

DUSTON VEAL
Duston Jeffrey Veal, 34, of Lookout Mountain, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
Duston was employed as a rock finisher and enjoyed motorcycles, going to the river and hanging out with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin Stone, Billy Veal, Sr., and Darlene Gail Veal, and aunt, Rhonda Mitchell.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Marlene and Robbie Mashburn; father and step-mother, Billy Edgar Veal, Jr. and Sandy Veal; grandmother, Wanda Stone; brother, Eddie Colton Veal; aunts and uncles, Jamie and Syl Stone, Matt and Tammy Veal, Lisa Veal, Sandy Stone, Marlon and Chris Stone.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 11 at West Brow Holiness Church with Brother Mark Finlayson officiating. Interment was at Mount Olive Cemetery.

ROBERT WOOD, SR.
Robert Kendall Wood, Sr., 87, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
Mr. Wood was a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for over 50 years and was retired from Singer-Cobble Machine in Chattanooga, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mary Elliotte Wood.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Stephens Wood; daughter, Sonya (Donald) Daniels; son, Robert (Natasha) Wood, Jr., all of Trenton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 11 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Witt officiating.

TOMMY YORK
Tommy Harold York, age 63, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
He was proud to be baptized three years ago and loved to attend church. Tommy was a great cook, enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening and riding his tractor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Corinne York and brother, Jimmy York.
Survivors include his sisters, Linda York and Wanda (Tim) Dunn; one niece, two nephews, several cousins.
A memorial service was Saturday, April 10 in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Bridges officiating.
