Dade County Commissioners voted during the January meeting to rename the Four Fields baseball section of the Dade Sports Complex to Larry Moore Park. Commissioners, Larry Moore, and his family, gathered on Feb. 10 for the formal presentation. Moore was Dade County’s sole Commissioner of Roads and Revenue from 1980 to 1992. Moore was instrumental in obtaining funding for the land and construction of the ball fields, playgrounds, and other recreational facilities. “This is not all Larry has done while he was in office. If you look around, a lot of people don’t realize some of the things he was really responsible for … We appreciate him so much,” County Executive Ted Rumley said.
