CARSON BUCKNER

Carson Jackson Buckner, 19, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was a good, soft–spoken kid who had a big heart and was loved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Maxx Buckner.

Survivors include his mother, Brittany (Jason) Rice; father, Ryan Buckner; grandparents, Reagon and Shannon Huggins, and Deena and Gary Coburn; grandmother, Vickie Carothers; sisters, Kynleigh, Ansley and Bella Rice; brothers, Blake (Breanna) Buckner, Kayden Hull, Maddox and Logan Rice; aunts and uncles, Andrea (Lamar) Hance, Jessica Chastain, Zach Rolen, Lindsey Coburn, Michael Fossett, and Samantha Roof; great–aunt, Tracy (Billy) Lewis; great–uncle, Chuck (Carla) Huggins; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Moore Funeral Home today, Jan. 27 from 4–8 p.m.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28 at New Smyrna Baptist Church in Chatsworth with Pastor Wayne Cofield officiating.

GARY “BOOGER” DAVIS

Gary F. Davis, 77, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, bird watching, and fishing. Gary was of the Church of God faith and attended Rising Fawn Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ida Davis; sister, Phillis Davis; brothers, Larry Davis and Rev. J. L. Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joyce Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Chuck Castleberry; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Amber Davis, Anthony and Michelle Davis, David and Crystal Davis; grandchildren, Charlie Davis and fiancé Ashley, Chad Davis, Cody (Heather) Davis, Amanda Davis and George, Caitline (P.J.) Stone, Devin (Amy) Kesler, Kendal Kesler, Brandon Castleberry, and Tommy Davis; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral  services were Saturday, Jan. 23 in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Randy Taylor and Brother Chris Hagler officiating. Burial was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

TERRY DAVIS

Terry A. Davis, 62, of Lookout Mountain, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin “Bull” and Anges Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Teresa Davis; children, Tina (Joel) Kesler, Trenton, Tad (Nikki) Davis, Trenton, Todd (Kristi) McAllister, Chickamauga and Matthew Davis, Lookout Mountain; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters, Delona Woods, Hixson, Tenn., and Faye Hardin, Ocala, Fla.; brother, Stanley Davis, Trenton; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 24 at at Ascalon Baptist Church with David Hale officiating.  Interment was in the Ascalon Cemetery.

PHILIP EVERETT

Philip Ray “Gocky” Everett, 81, of Ringgold, passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021.

Gocky loved the Lord and his family. He was a United States Army veteran, enjoyed woodworking, was an expert modifier and an avid rabbit hunter who loved his hunting dogs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Everett; daughter, Janet Vandergriff; grandson, Stephen Vandergriff; parents, Thomas and Hazel Everett; sister, Phyllis Wilbanks.

Survivors include Tom Everett and Jennifer Welchel; grandchildren, Taylor Everett, Maggie and Daniel Chilton

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, Jan. 27 with Brother Eddie Cantrell officiating. A graveside service will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, Tenn.

ROBERT HARDIN

Robert Earl (Big Bob) Hardin 83, of Bryant, Ala., passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.

He was born Jan.2, 1938, in Elora, Tenn. He was a 1956 graduate of Ider High School. Bob worked at Combustion Engineering and Fabius Coal Mines. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church until his health declined. He was known for building three-wheelers in his younger years and was an avid Nascar, Harley Davidson and Alabama football fan. He continued to ride his Harley and three-wheeler up until two years ago when his health began to limit him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Hardin and Vernell Hardin Stiles; sister, Martha Matson.

Survivors include his son, Vince (Karen) Hardin; sisters, Nellie Watson and Judy Keef-Goodman; brothers, Verlon Hardin, Billy Hardin and Eddie Hardin; grandchildren, Shanda Hauser, Corey Hardin, Starla Gross, Dallas Harris; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews, and special friends, Ed McKinney and Louise Brown.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m., in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Chaplain Joel Shiftlett officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service.

GREGORY HESTER

Gregory Lee Hester, 52, of Trenton, passed away on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021.

He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and was employed with Kenco of Chattanooga, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Terrell and Eva Fischer Hester.

Survivors include his brother, Alan (Darlene) Hester; niece, Madison Hester, all of Ooltewah, Tenn.; aunt, Jane Lewis, Summerville; uncle, Pete Hester, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Graveside services were Saturday, Jan. 23 at Head Springs Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Cantrell officiating.

LELA HOLLAND

Lela Marie Holland, 89, of Chattanooga, Tenn., born July 2, 1931, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.

Lela loved her family and church family. She was a life long member of the Church of God and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Her favorite ministry was cooking for church functions and her family. She loved watching and listening to gospel preaching and music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Laverne “Pedab” Holland; parents, Hiram B. and Lena Grayson Ridge; son, William Donald and daughter-in-law, Jan Palmer Ellison; brothers, Paul Ridge, Claude Ridge, and Rev. Harold Ridge and wife, Dorothy Ridge; sister, Lucille Ridge Ellison and brother-in-law, Sonny Ellison; baby sister, Juanita Ridge; brother-in-law, Charles Cameron.

Survivors include her children, Lonnie (Freda) Ellison, Jeannie (Billy) Lippard and like her own son, Larry Weathers; grandchildren, Holly (Shawn) Moore, Clinton (Amber) Ellison, Julie (Frank) Schwabe, Kara (Daniel) Silvers, Ginger (Jimmy) Mullins; great-grandchildren, Zoie and Grant Moore, John, Garrett, Emma, Carson, and Sarah Mae Ellison, Leah Schwabe, Nolan Silvers, Isabel Mullins; sister, Leota and Charles Dunlap; sisters-in-law, Jean Ridge and Betty Ridge;

Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 24 in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Nick Forshee and Brother Max Kesler officiating. Interment was at Lakewood Memorial Gardens West.

BUEFORD PORTER

Porter age 75 of Trenton passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.

Mr. Porter was retired from Tennessee Alloy after 39 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lillie Belle Ivey Porter; wife, Judy Sue Porter; grandson, Chase Porter; brothers, James, Edward and John Will Porter.

Survivors include his daughter, Kim Massey (Randy); son, Chad Porter (Brooke Phillips); grandchildren, Jacob Massey (Haley), Caleb Massey, Payton Massey (Shelby-Lynn), Paige Porter, Haven Porter, and Isabella Porter; great-grandchildren, Kaysen Henricks, Emily Massey, Chloe Case and Amelia Massey; brothers, Fred Porter (Dennie), Larry Porter (Karen); nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 18 at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Smith officiating.  Burial was in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.

OMA SULLIVAN

Oma Lee Sullivan, 73, of Trenton, passed away January 18, 2021. She was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed ladies softball back in the day and continued to be an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ollie Sullivan.

Survivors include her father, George Sullivan; sister, Darlene Sullivan; brother, Allan (Debbie) Sullivan, Tim (Lisa) Sullivan; nieces, Kayla and Misty Sullivan; nephew, Eric Sullivan.

Memorial services were Friday, Jan. 22 in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Earl Heard officiating.
