SHIRLEY AVERY
Shirley J. Avery, 69, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, Jan.13, 2021.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Laura Durham and sister, Barbara Ward.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Russell Avery; children, Tracy (Dewayne) Foote of Chattanooga, Tonja Parton of Chattanooga, and Cameron Avery of Trenton; grandchildren, Christopher Foote, Whitnie Durham, and Dakota Miller; eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, Jan. 16 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Zachary Ditmar officiating.

HENRIETTA BLEVINS
Henrietta Wilborn Blevins, 70, of Valley Head, Ala., passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021.
She was a retired school bus driver for the DeKalb County School System and was a member of Rainsville Holiness Church. Mrs. Blevins enjoyed traveling and sight seeing and being with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Annie Chaney Wilborn, and daughter, Annette Blevins.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Blevins; daughter, Christy (Tim) Riddle of Trenton; granddaughters, Megan Blevins, Desirae Riddle, and Tara Riddle; sisters, Claudean Wilborn Kindred, Rainsville, Ala., Madelyn Cooley, Scottsboro, Ala., and Joann Loudermilk, Section, Ala.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 17 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Tim Riddle officiating. Interment was in Valley Head Cemetery.

LACOSTA EVANS
Lacosta Evans, 21, of Bryant, Ala.,, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.
She was a loving daughter and sister.
Lacosta was a food service employee and a member of the Trenton Ministry Center.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Barbara Ann Hicks and grandfather, Eugene Evans. Survivors include her father and mother, Geno and Charlotte Evans; brother, Curtis (Christyn) Lankster; nephew, Jaxyn Lankster; niece, Josslyn Lankster; grandfather, Mickey Hicks; uncle, Terry (Becky) Hicks; cousin, Justin Hicks; sisters, Katlin Palmour and Hope Gilbreath; and grandmother, Glenna Evans.

GERALDINE GIVENS
Geraldine Givens, 83, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021.
She was “Granny” to everybody and baby sat half of Sand Mountain. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Givens; parents, Fred and Bertha Collins; five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Angie (Curtis) Moses; son, Bernard (Reba) Givens; grandchildren, Joseph Moses and Kristen Philips; great-grandchildren, Hailey Nicholson and Dalton Bowman.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 14 in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Winters officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

BUFORD HARTLINE
Buford Randell Hartline, 83, Trenton, GA, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021.
He was born Oct. 16, 1937, in Wildwood, to the late Sidney and Nettie Mae Hartline. Buford pastored Liberty Baptist Church and Slygo Baptist Church for several years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, June Gail Hartline; siblings, Martha Hansberger, Virginia Ryan, Jimmy Hartline, Charles Hartline, Tommy Hartline and Carolyn Riley.
Survivors include his sons, Jeff, Stan and Randy Hartline; sister, Patsy (Jimmy) Lynch; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Saturday, Jan. 16 at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with Brother Mark Brandon officiating.

TOMMY MOSES
Tommy Heath Moses, 83, of Sulphur Springs, Ala., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021.
He was born Nov. 7, 1937 in Alton Park, Tenn., to Charles and Martha Moses. In 1946, his family moved to Sulphur Springs where he was raised of the Baptist faith, and where he attended Valley Head School. In 1955, he enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Manatee until 1959. Upon returning home, he worked with Clark Byers painting barn roofs. In 1964, he became employed with Rock City Gardens building and painting the Rock City signs. He retired after 45 years of service. Tommy was an avid runner and exercise enthusiast. Most mornings you could catch him walking up Sand Mountain accompanied by the many neighborhood dogs. He was also a fan of reading, his favorite genre being Western. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Martha Moses; siblings, Emma Stewart, Lynn and Jerry Moses.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 54 years, Mary Sue; daughters, Michelle (Steve) Blackmon, Heather Moses and Jody Chapman; grandchildren, Trista (Jeremy) Sudberry, Katlyn Ewing, Kylee Ewing, and Dylan Lingerfelt; great-grandchildren, Riley, Bryant, and Marley Sudberry and “soon-to-be” Ezra Heath; siblings Charles Moses Jr., Ray Moses, David Moses, Wayne Moses, Martha Bailey, Linda Payne, Terri Moses, and Cheryl King.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Theakston and the staff at DeKalb Regional Hospital that took care of him.
Due to COVID-19, there will be no formal funeral, only a private immediate family burial at Sulphur Springs Cemetery with Brother Gene Fuller officiating.

VIRGINIA REED
Virginia Williams Reed, 88, of Trenton, passed way Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.
She was a devoted wife to the late Charles “Homer” Reed for 60 years of Trenton. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Martha Reed Hartleb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson Williams and Julia Louvenia Cox Williams of Jackson, Co., Ala.; siblings were Burma Williams, “TJ” Williams, Tom Williams, Paul Williams, “Dougan” Williams, Fay Williams, and Wanda Jo Williams. All were raised in Scottsboro, Ala. Virginia was Dade County Tax Commissioner in the 1980’s and held the office for eight years. She also was a long-time member of Trenton First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha and son-in-law Gene Hartleb; two grandsons, three great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.

Gloria Stockman, 73, of Trenton, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.
Gloria attended Calvary Baptist Church and was a retired C.N.A. from Hutcheson Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie L. Stockman, and brother, Earlon Harville.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela (Kevin) Baker, Murfreesboro, Tenn., sons, Jeffery (Sandra) Stockman and Timothy (Susan) Stockman, all of Trenton; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brothers, Olen AND Iven Harville; nieces AND nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 17 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. David Crane officiating. Interment was in the Henagar United Methodist Church cemetery, Henagar, Ala.
