DCSO K9 Unit helps Dekalb County make drug bust
On Nov. 17 at approximately 2:44 p.m., Detective Sergeant Chad Payne of the Dade County Sheriff’s Office and his K9 partner Daisy responded to a traffic stop to assist the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival at Sulphur Springs, just inside of the Alabama-Georgia line, Daisy was sent to the vehicle to sniff for any drug paraphernalia. Daisy positively identified a large amount of methamphetamine and marijuana inside the vehicle in question.
“Approximately three ounces of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug-related objects were recovered in result of Daisy’s deployment,” Public Information Officer Hailey Smith said in a Facebook post.
Smith said that two suspects were arrested by the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office for possession of methamphetamine and other “drug-related charges.”
“Our canine teams are a very important asset to the Sheriff’s Office and provide excellent service to our community,” Sheriff Ray Cross said.
