Trenton Police Chief Smith resigns to join Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit

Trenton Police Commissioner Kirk Forshee confirmed that Police Chief Christy Smith is resigning from her duties at the end of November to take a position as an Investigator for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit.

Forshee said that an interim Chief has not been announced yet. Trenton Commissioners will be deciding on how to move forward with a replacement in the coming weeks. The city of Trenton has placed an employment ad in the Sentinel’s classifieds in an effort to fill Smith’s position.

Smith served as Police Chief for three and a half years and was responsible for many events that benefited the community. This includes the annual Touch-A-Truck and the Silver Bells, which helps collect and deliver gifts to senior citizens in Dade County.

The Sentinel reached out to Smith for comment. Smith told the Sentinel that she will not be releasing a statement until Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Chris Arnt makes the official announcement about Smith’s new position.
