City of Trenton receives $112,000 in C.A.R.E.S. Act Funding for COVID-19 relief
The City of Trenton’s Board of Commissioners voted Aug. 10 during its monthly meeting to allow C.A.R.E.S. Act funding to be used to provide COVID-19 relief for the city.
Mayor Alex Case said that the grand total of funds will total $112,000. Case said that with COVID-19 cases rising faster each day, it was crucial for the board to vote on the act immediately.
“What I ask is to allow me to continue on working with these funds to continue [to handle COVID-19],” Case said, “We have to be quick with our decisions. We can’t come back with a special-called meeting to approve this.”
Case said the funds have strict guidelines that only allow for spending on items that prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“We have to stay within guidelines and submit this in,” Case said.
All commissioners voted yes on the act.
