Dade County High School names Mark Whitt as boy’s basketball head coach
Dade County High School announced on July 8 that Mark Whitt will be the new boys basketball Head Coach.
Whitt spent six years as a Head Coach at Jenkins High School and three years at Pike County High School. Whitt helped JCHS reach its first final four in school history in 2013 and brought a region championship to PCHS in 2005.
Whitt relocated to the Rising Fawn area in 2013 to help take care of his in-laws and was coaching at Red Bud Middle School in Calhoun before landing his new position at Dade High.
“We are excited to have Coach Whitt on our staff at DCHS,” Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Brent Cooper said. “He is a team player and a motivator, two phrases I heard numerous times when calling his references. I know that Coach Whitt has the tools and experience to continue the upward trend I’ve observed with our boys program. That trend hasn’t always translated to W’s, but we are competing. If the boys will work hard in the offseason and buy into Coach Whitt’s process, I believe our program can get back to where we once were.”
Great Job Coach, wish you the best!
