SHIRLEY ASH

Shirley Jean Ash, 82, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020.

Mrs. Ash was a housewife and homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Jessie May Houston; son, Michael Ash, and brother, Russell Houston.

Survivors include her husband, James Ash; grandson, James Anthony Ash, Mobile, Ala.

Funeral services were Saturday, July 11 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

CHARLES DOWNER

Charles Alfred “Al” Downer, 71, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020.

Al was a truck driver for Bowman Truck Lines for 20 years and then became the owner and operator of A&W Heating & Air in Bryant for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristy Downer; son, Kyle Downer, parents, Aubrey and Estell Downer; brother, Elvin Downer.

Survivors include his companion, Thelma Sean Belue of Bryant, Ala.; sons, Tyler and Blake Downer, both of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Verna and Glenn Bailey of Lookout Valley, Tenn., Glenda and Bernard Peek of Rising Fawn, Brenda Tinker of Rising Fawn, and Phyllis McClure of Trenton; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Thursday, July 9 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Walker officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bryant, Ala.

LEANNA REED

LeAnna Ruth Reed, 38, of Ruskin, Fla., passed away Friday, June 26, 2020.

Know to all he family and friends as “Nina,” she was born in Tampa, Fla., on Nov. 15, 1981.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, E.W. and Shirley Bass.

Survivors include her mother, Sandra Bass; children, Robert Reed, Jr., Benjamin Reed, and Sara Reed; siblings, Angela Workman, Andrew Silverthorne, and Leah Silverthorne; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

CONNIE SMARTT

Connie Marie Smartt, 69, of Trenton, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020.

Connie didn’t stand out in the family. She was the quiet one smiling in the background in the midst of the chaos and craziness. She was the glue that held the family together.

She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Neal Hollingsworth; sister, Wilma Tinker and brother, Tommy Hollingsworth.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Smartt; son, Jason Smartt; mother, Mildred Hollingsworth; sisters, Peggy Harris and Bonnie Millican; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great–great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday, June 12 in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Floyd Kilgore and Brother Bob Dehart officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

BOBBY WALKER

Robert Lee “Bobby” Walker, 67, of Trenton, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020.

Bobby was retired from the City of Chattanooga as a truck driver following 33-1/2years of service and was a member of Davis Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tine and Betty Raines Walker, and father-in-law, Johnny Avery.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Avery Walker; daughter, Shonda (Ed) Long; son, Cody Walker; mother-in-law, Phyllis (Johnie) Mosley, all of Trenton; sister, Wanda (Randy) Elliott, Bryant, Ala.; brothers, Charles (Shirley)Walker, Ocala, Fla., Billy (Janie) Raines, Chickamauga, and Paul Raines, Trenton; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, July 15, in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Minister Don Walker officiating.

GREETA WAYCASTER

Greeta Fuller Waycaster, 74, of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020.

She was a member of North Cleveland Baptist. Mrs. Waycaster graduated from Dade County High School, received a BS from UTC and a master’s degree from the University of Mississippi.  Her career as an educator spanned over 30 years including 27 years at Etowah City School in McMinn County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Ray and Joyce Pace Fuller; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sue Fuller.

Survivors include by husband of 49 years, Phil Waycaster; daughter, Kristen Waycaster of Chattanooga, Tenn.; son, Matt (Arleah) Waycaster, grandchildren Mattie and Luke Wacaster, Lili and MaKayla DiFebbo, sisters Martha (Wayne) Turner of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Tamarah Fuller of Brentwood, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Carol (Gerardo) Cardona of Houston, Texas; nieces, Suzie (Adam) Roberson, Ellen (Jason) Cline, and Elan Cardona (Ches Williams); nephew, Daniel Stanphill; great–nephews, Will and Charlie Cline.

BUELAH WOOSLEY

Buelah Ballard Woosley, 78, of Bryant, Ala., passed away July 5, 2020 after a brief battle with brain cancer.

Buelah was born Feb 3, 1942 to Novella and Bill Ballard of Hooker, Ga. After graduating from Central High School, she met and married Fred Woosley and lived in Bryant, Ala. Fred and Buelah loved and supported the Bryant Community. They were second generation owners of Woosley Hardware until 1996 and then started Southern Star Catering where she was able to use her culinary skills catering. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother, she loved watching her grandsons play sports, flowers, gardening, quilting and was an excellent seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Novella Ballard and husband. Fred Woosley.

Survivors include her children, Mark Woosley of Bryant, Ala., Lacina (James) Chappelear Bryant, Ala., Loucretia Woosley and fiancé Jeff Mims; grandchildren, Jessica Woosley and Jordan Woosley, both of Charlotte, N.C., and Garrett and Greyson Chappelear; sisters, Edna Blevins of New Hope, Tenn., Minnie Ballard of Trenton, June Kennemore of Texas, and Malissie Keenemore of Trenton; nieces and nephews.

Special thanks for her church family at Ebenezer Baptist Church for the food, prayers and phone calls.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 8th at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bryant with Rev. Charles Edmonds and Rev. Wayne Winters officiating. Entombment was in the church cemetery.

HUBERT HALL

Hubert Crawford Hall passed away Friday, July 3, 2020. He was born Feb. 19, 1948. He was a Vietnam veteran and a longtime GM employee. His happy place was with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burrel Hall; brother, Henry Hall; brother–in–law, Fred Moore; sister–in–law, Debisu Hall.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Melinda Hall; children, Dana (Patrick) Artrip, Robert (Jamie) Hall and Mike (Shawna) Hall; grandchildren, Dustyn Hall, Trenton Hall, Shaelyn Hall, Tori Hall, Dylan Artrip, Seth Artrip, Jayden Hall, Connor Hall, Bella Hall, Josh Garrison and Morgan Garrison; great–grandchildren, Jaxon Hall, Brylon Hall, Boone Brewer, Leighton Hall, Audrey Garrison and Lincoln Garrison; mother, Margarette Hall; siblings, Marjorie Moore, Thomas Hall, Shelia (Paul) Thomas, Peggy (Jim) Dowd and Patsy (Chuck) Brown; nieces and nephews.

Per his request there will be no service or memorial.

Buelah Sue Woosley, 78, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 8 at 3 p.m., EST at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bryant, Ala. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from noon until 3 p.m., on Wednesday.
