TOMMY COATES

Thomas Edward “Tommy” Coates, 73, of Trenton, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Tommy was a 1970 graduate of Dade County High School. He was a member of Edgewood Missionary Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed riding his bike and outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Lazell Coates; sister, Patricia Willoughby; nephew, Caleb Coates

Survivors include his residence brother, Hugh (Sonny) Coates Jr., of Trenton; nieces, Mistie (Luke) Asher of Rossville and Beth (Shawn) Chavis of Spanish Port, Ala.; great-nieces, Courtney, Tabitha, Rebecca and Brooke; great-nephew, Aiden.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 1, at 1 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jim Lilley officiating. Interment will follow in Payne Family Cemetery located at Lake Hills community in Trenton.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m,. until the service hour at Ryan Funeral Home and Crematory, Trenton.

MYRANDA GARRETT

Myranda Gail Garrett, age 51, of Dutton, Ala., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Myranda loved her family deeply, especially her grandbabies, who brought her so much joy. She was an excellent cook, known for filling both hearts and stomachs with her meals. With a quick wit and a kind spirit, Myranda had a way of making people laugh and feel welcome. Her love for animals was only matched by her love for people, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Muir; grandmother, Virginia Muir; grandparents, Nellie and James Garrett.

Survivors include her children, Amberly, Dustin, and Courtney Garrett; grandchildren, E.J., Alex, and Gabriel; mother, Jimmie Gail Hill; siblings, Larry Muir, David Muir, Brian Muir, Jessica Hester Morgan, and Magan Muir.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.

EDDIE MCBRYAR

Eddie “Cowboy” McBryar, 74, of Rising Fawn, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025.

A true original, Cowboy was known far and wide for his trademark cowboy hat, belt buckle, and boots. He had a deep love for the outdoors, horses, and the simple pleasures of life. In true cowboy fashion, he once rode horseback all the way from Dade County, to Montgomery, Ala. For many years, he co-owned the Depot Diner in Rising Fawn alongside his daughter, where his warm personality and down-home hospitality made everyone feel welcome. Cowboy enjoyed helping others, admired the beauty of nature and had a soft spot for animals. But above all, he loved his family dearly and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Bertha Holder McBryar; siblings, Imogene Tate, Bernice Smith, Charlotte Fossett, Theodore “Mac” McBryar, and Joe McBryar.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte McBryar; daughters, Treva (Allen Williams) McBryar and Reva Henry; grandchildren, Katie Henry and Kaylee George; brother, Jerry (Stella) McBryar; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 29, at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Poplar Springs Cemetery.

LEELAND STANLEY

Leeland Leo Stanley was born sleeping on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Parkridge East Hospital.

Although his time with us was brief, he was deeply loved and brought immense joy to our lives and we will always cherish the moments that we had with him.

Survivors include his loving parents, Jaylynn Gass and Brayden Stanley; maternal grandparents, Justin Gass, Brenda Gass, James Gass, & Teresa Sharp; paternal grandparents, Cole and Chassity Dias, and Cody Harris; paternal great-grandparents, Christi Bailey, Steve Stanley, Christy and Kevin Ellis.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

CHRIS WESTMORELAND

Thomas Christopher “Chris” Westmoreland, 59, of Trenton, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Chris was known for his big heart, sharp wit, and deep devotion to his family. A gifted mechanic, he earned several awards throughout his career, but his greatest pride was in his children and grandchildren. He had a natural talent for making people laugh, often playing pranks and sharing his signature sense of humor with everyone around him. A die-hard Florida Gator fan, Chris wore his team colors with pride and passion. He was a Christian and found strength and comfort in his faith.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Zella (Rex) Morris; daughters, Amanda (Marcus) Humphries and Ashley (Chris) Westmoreland; grandchildren, Daxton Humphries, Parker Humphries, Paisley Humphries, Briley Smith, and Starley Smith; sisters, Maria (Nigel) Herbert, Carol (Michael) Ballard, and Julie (Jan) Annareila; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service was Friday, July 25, at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Ownby officiating.
