Back To School: Orientations, Open Houses, Daily Schedules

Dade County Schools will begin the 2025-2026 school year on August 7. Here’s the information families of students should know.
Orientations
- Dade County High School (DCHS): Ninth Grade Orientation, August 5 at 6:30 p.m. (during DCHS’ Open House)
- Davis Elementary School (Davis): Pre-K Orientation, August 4 from 5-6 p.m.
- Dade Elementary School (DES): Pre-K Orientation, August 5 from 5-6 p.m.
Open Houses
- DCHS: August 5 from 5-7 p.m.
- Dade Middle School (DMS): August 5 from 4-6 p.m.
- Davis: August 6 from 3:30-5:30
- DES: August 6 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Daily Schedules
- DCHS: Doors open at 7:10, school begins at 8:00, dismissal at 3:22
- DMS: Doors open at 7:20, school begins at 7:50, dismissal at 3:07
- Davis: Doors open at 7:20, school begins at 8:00, Pre-K and Kindergarten early dismissal at 2:50, 1st-5th grade late car rider and younger siblings at 3:30, bus rider dismissal at 3:40
- DES: Doors open at 7:30, school begins at 8:00, early car rider dismissal at 3:00, car and bus riders dismissed at 3:36
Meal costs were approved at the July 28 Dade County Board of Education meeting after the Sentinel’s press deadline, so be sure to check your school’s student handbook for these costs.
