RON CARDIN
Ronny “Ron” Earl Cardin, 69, of Bryant, Ala, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024.
Ron was born in Hammond, Ind., on July 20, 1955. He worked as a computer programmer for Transamerica until he moved to Bryant, Ala., where he was a jack of all trades for Fortner Farms for almost 20 years.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Roland “Red” and Peggy Gifford Cardin, and grandparents, Harvey and Myrtle Cardin, and Ernest and Dovey Gifford.
Survivors include his children, Roland (Shelley) Cardin, Lindsay (Joe) Moyer, and Ashley (Nate) Loomis; grandchildren, Kyle and Sonya Cadin, Evan, Allie, and Lexie Moyer, and Ava Loomis; brothers, Tim (Monica) Cardin and Danny (Tammy) Cardin.
A graveside service was Sunday, Nov. 10, at Espey Cemetery in Smyrna, Tenn., with Brother Mark Teet and Brother Royce Cornelison officiating.
Pallbearers were Steele Fortner, Shade Fortner, Lucas Pritchett, Logan Pritchett, Bryson Bridges, and Will Bridges. Levi and Landree Pritchett served as honorary pallbearers.

MATTHEW DAVIS
Matthew Brandon Davis, 39, of Rising Fawn, passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024.
Matt was a 2004 graduate of Dade County High School and was known for his love of University of Georgia football and would talk stats and season possibilities with anyone who would engage. He had an incredible sense of humor and kept everyone around him entertained. He loved his family and they loved him.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin “Bull” and Agnes Davis and Jerry Smith; father, Terry Davis.
Survivors include his children, Kayden and Kiley Davis; mother, Teresa Davis; grandmother, Joyce Smith; brothers, Tad (Nikki) Davis and Todd (Kristi) McAllister; sister, Tina (Joel) Kesler; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services were Sunday, Nov. 10, at Ascalon Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Stan Chambers officiating.

GAYLE HAWKINS
Virginia Gayle Hawkins, 74, of Higdon, Ala., passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2024.
Born on March 22, 1950, to the late Bo and Dorothy Coates Cloud, Gayle had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly enjoying her beautiful flower gardens. She cherished trips to the beach and held a special affection for her beloved dogs, Annie and Bo.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Hawkins.
Survivors include her companion and best friend, Tom Gravitt; sister, Jean Talley; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hawkins; grandchildren, Cassondra Hamill and Preston Hawkins; great-granddaughter, Alyana Jean Hamill.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, Nov. 14, at 4 p.m., ET in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home, with visitation from 2 p.m., ET until the service begins.

Edith Bailey Justice, 86, of Ider, ALA., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
Born April 12, 1938, to W.M. and Virgie Holcomb Bailey. Edith was a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who personified love. With a servant’s heart and hands that were never idle, she transformed her home and garden into sanctuaries filled with life, color, and warmth. She poured as much care into her garden as she did into her family by nurturing each bloom and each person with gentle strength and boundless patience.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.M. and Virgie Holcomb Bailey; siblings, G.A. Bailey, Imogene Chapman, Leddy Bell Weldon, Isabell Manis, Ruby Runningriver, and Mildred Rogers; granddaughter, Amanda York.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Justice; children, Larry (Deborah) York, Sharlene (Billy Ray) Thompson, Carol (Gary) Hill, Gena (Kent) Weldon, and Joy Downes; grandchildren, Lorrie York, Adam York, Kellie Blevins, April Hill, Meghan Collins, Gage Weldon, Gavin Weldon, Greyson Weldon, Griffin Weldon, Joseph Downes, and Bailey Downes; great-grandchildren, Harley Smith, Ada Smith, Braylee York, Kaislee York, Morgan Miles, Tyler Scott, Marcus Mason, Judah Hill, Dallas York, Isaac York, Alexis York, Phoenix Collins, Destiny Collins, and Rhett Weldon; great-great-grandchildren, Colson Miles and Harper Scott; siblings, Junior Bailey, Violen Bailey, Lee Roy (Glenda) Bailey, and Dortha (Gerald) Chapman.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 8, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Charles Smith and Brother Scott Crye officiatimg. Interment was at Fuller Cemetery in Ider, Ala.

TOMMY LOWERY
Tommy Lamar Lowery, 65, of Wildwood, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
His life was characterized by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering love for those around him.
Lamar was born May 4, 1959, to Tommy A. Lowery and the late Ann Foster Lowery. He dedicated many years of service as an electrician at Hutcheson Medical Center. His commitment to his community was evident through his long-standing service on the Dade County Commission, where he approached his duties with a deep love for his county and its residents. Lamar was willing to help others and made time to listen, whether people agreed with him or not. He was a member of Hooker Church of Christ and an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. Family was at the heart of Lamar’s life. He cherished his role as a proud “Grandpa,” ensuring that he spent quality time with his grandchildren and enjoyed traveling with his family.
Lamar was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Lowery; grandparents, R.C. and Juanita Foster, and John and Mae Lowery; aunt, Peggy (Jim) Price.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Lowery; children, Derrick (Christina) Lowery and Misty (Brevin) Cameron; grandchildren, Wyatt and Joe Daniel, Brady Lowery, and MaKenna and Barrett Cameron; father, Tommy (Eileen) Lowery; sister, Karen (Lamar) Hulvey; in-laws, Fred and Mary Rogers; uncle Doug (Diane) Foster; aunts, Mary Faye Sill and Bessie Mae.
Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

JAMEY MCMAHAN
James “Jamey” Ralph McMahan Jr., 49, of Darien, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024.
Affectionately known as “Coach Mac,” Jamey dedicated his life to cultivating and supporting the youth of his community.
Jamey was a high school teacher at McIntosh County Academy, where he not only inspired his students in the classroom but also made a significant impact as an assistant football coach and girls’ soccer coach. His prior role at Dade County High School left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young athletes. Known endearingly as “Coach Mac,” his dedication to nurturing talent and character earned him the deep respect and admiration of players and colleagues alike.
Beyond teaching, Jamey poured his heart into his family. His children were his pride and joy. He cherished every moment spent coaching his kids and attending their sporting events, celebrating their victories and supporting them through challenges. He was an avid sports fan, and a loyal supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs and the San Francisco 49ers. He was a man of faith and loved the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda McMahan.
Survivors include his wife, Jessi McMahan; children, Madi, Reagan, and Blake McMahan; father, James Ralph McMahan.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Eddie Cantrell and Pastor Reece Fauscett officiating. Interment was at Hannah Cemetery in Rising Fawn.

ELIZABETH RUSSELL
Elizabeth Turner Russell, 38, of Trenton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, after a brief illness.
Born Dec. 28, 1985, Elizabeth was the cherished daughter of Charlotte McGee and the late Bruce Turner Sr., For many years, she was as a home health nurse at Thrive on Lookout Mountain. Family was always Elizabeth’s cornerstone, and she held her nieces and nephews close to her heart. Elizabeth had a passion for cooking and was known for being an exceptional Rook partner. She was a member of Grace Place Ministry in Fort Payne, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Turner Sr.; brother, Bruce Turner Jr.; and bonus mother, Lynn Patterson.
Survivors include her husband, Adam Russell; mother, Charlotte McGee; sister, Nikki Bailey; nieces and nephews, Kelley Chastain, Michael Chastain, and Juan Parkman; extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be Friday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m., in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 p.m.
