IDA Business Matters Moved To November

Without a quorum at the Industrial Development Authority’s regularly scheduled meeting on Oct. 21, agenda items had to be moved to a special called meeting on Nov. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dade County Administrative Building.

Because the historic courthouse restoration is still not complete, the quarterly Joint Development Authority meeting was moved to Dade County High School. (The meeting rotates through the four counties, and this time, it was Dade’s turn to host. The IDA had planned to make use of the courthouse’s top floor.)

The IDA’s industrial summit on Oct. 24 also had to be moved from the historic courthouse. Evan Stone (IDA executive director) noted that 24 people had RSVP’d for the summit and that the agenda included speakers from Georgia Power, the JDA, Top of Georgia, and Workforce Georgia.

Stone said that while the IDA has met individually with leaders of local industries, bringing them all together in one room is a first.

The postponed agenda items are “GRAD Grant” and “Declaration of Covenants – Business Park North.”

Because everyone is accustomed to referring to just “the industrial park,” the Sentinel asked for clarification about the names of the two industrial parks. The current one is the “Dade County Industrial Park,” while the new one is the “Trenton-Dade Business Park.”
