STEPHEN THOMPSON

Stephen “Steve” R. Thompson, 69, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024.

Steve was born in the West Brow community on Lookout Mountain. He was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia and Chattanooga area, attending Brainerd Baptist Church, when able due to his health. Before his health declined, Steve loved to play golf; one of his favorite memories was attending the Masters five years ago with his wife, Sheila. He was an EMT for many years and worked in electrical contracting for over 25 years. He recently retired from Adman Electric as a project manager. Steve loved the Lord, was loved by many, and put his family first.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Thompson and Joyce Higdon Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Jenkins Thompson; children, Brian (Holly) Vandagriff and Laura (Kevin) Baggett; siblings, Mike (Claudette) Thompson, Karen (John) Cline; brother-in-law, Chris (Gail) Jenkins; grandchildren, Emma Vandagriff and Cylia and Lucas Baggett, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be Friday, Nov. 1, between 4–6 p.m., at Brainerd Crossroads (BX), 4011 Austin Street, Chattanooga, Tenn. Donations may be made in his memory to Brainerd Baptist Church.

CARL USRY

Carl Usry, 90, of Winchester, Ky., formerly of Trenton, passed away Saturday, Oct.19, 2024.

Carl was the owner/operator of Big C Vending in Chicago, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Patricia Schwinn and Carla Usry; parents, Eugene Forrest and Nellie Ruth Farr Usry; brothers, Robert “Bob” Usry, Eugene “Jack” Farr Usry, Thomas “Bud” Wayne Usry; sister, Billie Ruth Murphy.

Survivors include his sons, Scotty Usry and Randall Usry; daughters, Katelynn Usry and Virginia (Dennis) Konitzer; sisters, Elizabeth Beene, Margaret Smith, and Wynell Saylors; grandchildren, Brian (Christine) Konitzer and Veronica Cornelius; nieces and nephews including John Schwinn, Marsha Schwinn and Georgina Weidemann.

Graveside services were Friday, Oct.25 at Trenton Baptist Cemetery.

OTELIA WHEELER

Otelia Wheeler, 92, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024.

Otelia was born in Spencer, Tenn., on Dec. 11, 1931, to the late Alfred and Ethel Paine and has been a resident of the Dade County area for many years. She was a longtime member of Trenton Church of Christ. She loved to crochet quilts, blankets and baking cakes. Many trips were made to the beach with her family where they enjoyed time together.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald B. Wheeler; sisters, Betty Acuff, Ruth Keeton, Ann Clark and Janice Raines; and son-in-law, John F. Wallin.

Survivors include her daughter, Becky (Bill) Wallin Ware, sons, Tony Wheeler, Michael Wheeler, Tim (Rhonda) Wheeler and Daniel (Missy) Wheeler; sister, Shirley Mitchum; brother, Wendell Paine, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Jerry (Sandra) Wheeler.

Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Mike Keith officiating. Interment was at Trenton Baptist Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hearth Hospice and to NHC Rossville for their care and compassion during this time.
