BECKY RAINES BIRCHFIELD
Rebecca “Becky” Annette Raines-Birchfield, 60, of Trenton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
Born on October 11, 1963, she touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit. Becky was a beloved figure in the community and a dedicated realtor for Dora Crisp Realty. However, Becky was more than a successful professional; she was a devoted mother, wife, Nonna, and survivor. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren who brought her immense pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Raines III, and husband, Tony Lamar Crisp.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Birchfield; daughter, Nicole (Peeks) Wade-Thebodeaux; grandchildren, Hunter, Grayson, Mack, and Millie, parents, Hazel and Robbie Robertson; sister, Tracy (Brian) Contorno; brother, Michael (Susan) Long; mother-in-law, Dora Crisp; step-children, Cole (Katelyn) Birchfield and Ali (Dallen) Atchley; nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service to honor Becky’s life will be Thursday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m., in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Fauscett officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at New Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, Sept. 18, from 4–8 p.m., and Thursday from noon until to 1 p.m.

ELLA RUTH LONG
Ella Ruth (Swaim) Long, 99, of Flat Rock Ala., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.
Ella Ruth was a registered nurse, having trained at Newell Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Pennsylvania General Hospital in Philadelphia, Penn. Most of her nursing career was spent at Peet Clinic in Flat Rock, Ala., working for her special friend, Dr. Ruth Harris Peet.
She was a long-time, faithful member of Sand Mountain United Methodist Church, having served in many church offices, and was still active at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton D. Long; parents, J. Ernest and Margaret Hays Swaim of Scottsboro, Ala., and sister, Edna Grace Swaim of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth Long Whitley; son-in-law, Calvin T. Whitley; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 13, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Reverend H. Wayne Cook, Reverend Larry Williams, and Reverend Cathy Hill officiating. Interment was at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

MARGARETTE MARSHALL
Margarette R. Brannon Marshall, 95, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.
A cherished resident of the Trenton area for the past 50 years, she was born on Aug. 2, 1929, in Fyffe, Ala., to Homer Jackson Brannon and Laura Octavia Marshall Brannon.
Her formative years were spent in East Lake and East Ridge, Tenn., where she attended Central High School, graduating in 1947. Following high school, Margarette began her professional journey as an operator for Southern Bell Telephone, a role she held for four years until she married Bill on May 23, 1951. During their time together, Margarette supported Bill through his service in the United States Air Force, working as an operator and attending Emily Griffith Business College in Denver, Colo.
In 1954, they returned to Chattanooga with their sons, where Margarette dedicated herself to being a housewife until Bill’s employment relocated them to Northern Indiana. After two years, Bill launched his own business in recreational vehicles and housing. For 20 years, she played a crucial role as the accountant, secretary, and treasurer of the thriving company, which expanded to 10 plants in 10 states and employed 1,200 people.
At the age of 56, Margarette and Bill sold the business and relocated back to the Trenton area, where they embraced community life, fostered friendships, and dedicated their time to volunteering for various causes.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William P. (Bill) Marshall; two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Donald Adair Marshall of Trenton, and Rodney Kyle Marshall of Whitwell, Tenn.; grandchildren, Deborah Norton (Bartlee) of Cleveland, Tenn., Sabra Marshall (Amanda Horner) of Chattanooga, Tenn., Eric Marshall (Alex) of Dunlap, Tenn., Rachael Marshall Scottsdale, Ariz., Natalie Violette (Joey) of Goldsboro, N.C., Michelle Biashvili (George) of Athens, William Marshall of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Melissa Marshall (Jeremy Lake) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Trace Hedrick, Tripp Norton, Tenslee Norton, Adalynn Marie Marshall, Kendall Blair Violette, Kimberly Drew Violette, Kestle Joy Violette, Amery Samara Marshall, and Isaac Samuel Marshall.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 16, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Interment was at Lakewood Memory Gardens South in Rossville.

EDNA MOORE
Edna Stephens Moore (76) of Trenton, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, surrounded by her family.
A lifelong resident of Sand Mountain, she was known to many for being a founding member of the Davis Fire Department, cafeteria worker at both Davis Elementary and Dade County High School, bus driver for over 40 years, competitive softball player, and singer for The Woodlawnaires. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, which she attended faithfully and joyfully. Pastimes and interests include listening to Southern Gospel music, planting flowers and gardening, spending time with her sisters, playing cards with dear friends, being involved in church activities, and attending various events to support and cheer on her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Hershel Wayne Moore; children, Bobby Moore (Brianna), Edie Saenz (Ricky), Andrea Moore, and Michael Moore; grandchildren; Marcail, Bridget, Arianna, Dakotah, Madi, Tara, Cameron, and Addison; sisters, Juanita Wood and Carolyn Howard; brother, Bufford Stephens; sister-in-law, Latricia Stephens; brother-in-law, Buddy Moore; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 13, at Woodlawn Baptist Church, with Brother Jonathan Witt officiating. Interment was at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Fort Payne, Ala.

PEGGY NASH
Peggy Ann Nash, 77, of Bryant, Ala., passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.
Peggy dedicated herself to her family, treasuring the moments spent with her children and grandchildren. Her love and devotion were evident in every interaction, creating a legacy of warmth and kindness that will forever be cherished by her loved ones. Peggy was a devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gib and Lucille Ellis.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Nash; children, Christina (Cary) Carter and Brian (LeAnn) Nash; sister, Sherry Wamsley; grandchildren, ShiAnn Sorrells, Sarah Williams, and Jaxton Nash; great-grandchild, Aubreigh Grace Williams.

NAYOMIA ROGERS
Nayomia Jo Rogers, 93, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and retired from Atlas Top-Flight Paper in Chattanooga, Tenn., following 51 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Rogers; mother and father, Bertie and Kelvie Gray; sisters, Doris (Wilbur) West and Donnie Rogers; brother, Kenneth (Mary) Gray.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn (Paul) Nethery, Trenton, Freida Cloud, Trenton, and Teresa (James) Cash, Hixson, Tenn.; son, Lonnie (Cindy) Rogers, Trenton; sisters-in-law, Vala Murphy, Rising Fawn, and Betty Ann Rogers, Bryant, Ala.; brother-in-law, J.D. Rogers, Ider, Ala.; grandchildren, Matt (Dana) Nethery, Jeremy (Sara) Cloud, Josh Cloud, Jamie (Dan) Varnell, Alan (Sarah) Cash, Lindsay (Steven) Ryan, and Laura (Geoff) Oliver; great-grandchildren, Ashley (Kyle) Yaklin, Bryce (Stahr Stembel) Nethery, Audrey Cloud, Brayden Nethery, Cash Varnell, Carter Ryan, Maclane Cash, Levi Varnell, Charlie Ryan, Brendan Oliver, and Camden Cash; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 14, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Darren Rogers and Bro. Roy Morgan, Sr. officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

MARVIN WOOTEN
Marvin Brett Wooten, 56, of Trenton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024.
Marvin, a native of Newport News, Va., was born Jan. 30, 1968, to Robert Mitchell Wooten and Ethel Faye Henegar Wooten. He retired from Peabody’s in Newport News after many years and moved to Dade County in 2009. Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR and the Pittsburg Steelers, spending time with his family and his dogs.
Marvin is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Faye Henegar Wooten.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Korinna Wooten; father, Robert (Shirley) Wooten; sons, Kevin (Meghan) Wooten and Curtis Wooten; grandchildren, Lukas Wooten and Rylee Wooten; sisters, Lisa (Paul) Slade, Audrey (Hugh) Fesperman and Regina Wooten; brothers, Wayne (Donna) Wooten and Regan Wooten.
A graveside service was Friday, Sept. 13, at Payne Gap Cemetery in Flat Rock, Ala., with Johnny Ellison and Ricky Crabtree officiating.
