Water Authority Pipe Inventory Deadline Approaches

The Dade County Water and Sewer Authority has been preparing for and working on a federally mandated pipe inventory for over a year (see the August 23, 2023, issue of the Sentinel). With a deadline looming, the authority once again requests help from customers to complete the inventory.
Called the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR), this large undertaking originated with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and information was passed down to each state and then to each county. The LCRR requires water companies establish and continue to update an inventory of service line materials.
Dade’s water company must submit records to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division by October of this year, and thus far, about 68 percent of customers have submitted information. The water company will be individually contacting customers who do not submit their pipe inventory.
See further instructions from the water authority on page three of the paper or e-edition.
