Dawn Mulford – Contributing Columnist

Not everyone can afford expensive vacations to exotic destinations, but you can still have a great summer with your family driving to the Alabama beaches!

Take a look at these great public beaches that are a short drive away from home.

  • Shell Beach
  • Alabama Point East
  • Cotton Bayou
  • Romar Beach
  • Gulf State Park Pavillion
  • Gulf Place
  • Branyon Beach
  • Gulf Shores 4th St Beach
  • Gulf Shores 5th St Beach
  • Gulf Shores 6th St Beach
  • Gulf Shores 10th St Beach
  • Gulf Shores 12th St Beach
  • Gulf Shores 13th St Beach
  • Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge Beach
  • Lagoon Pass Beach

Many of these beaches offer a variety of things to do.

Alabama’s beaches are famous for their white, soft, sand beaches and family friendly attractions.

There is a great deal of rentable beach equipment as well. Kayaks, beach buggies, paddleboards, sports equipment, beach flotation devices, and more. Many have delivery and pick up services depending on your location.

You can even rent condominiums if you want to have the option of cooking some meals in.
