Corner Coffee first opened in mid-July 2019, becoming Dade County’s only coffee shop at the time. The owners, Keel and Tammy Irvin, saw that Artzy Cafe and then Big Woods Bakery had closed, leaving a gap for a breakfast/lunch spot that served quality coffee. In order to serve quality coffee they order freshly roasted beans from Goodman Coffee Roasters in St. Elmo, Chattanooga.

Keel said, “At the time, there wasn’t a place to get good coffee.” Tammy added, “We also needed a gathering place for the community.”

Corner Coffee has certainly become a community gathering place for tourists, hang gliding pilots, and locals alike, and the Irvins enjoy meeting people from all over the world and seeing people from many walks of life come together.

With other coffee options continuing to open around the county (like Za Brew and Rosie Mae’s coffee bar), the Irvins are glad to see more local businesses thriving. Keel said, “That’s why we joined the tourism/hospitality group. We want more unique, private businesses.” Tammy added, “We try to save people from having to drive to Chattanooga and keep tourists and locals here.”

They are thankful for their wonderful staff, and everyone in the community who has supported the business. “We’ve had five wonderful years and are looking forward to plenty more.”
