On May 13th, the Dade County Board of Education held a special called meeting to appoint the new District One board member. (When Daniel Case qualified to run for County Executive, he had to vacate his seat representing District One on the school board.)
The board appointed Jason Crisp, husband to Brittany and father to several students in Dade County schools, to the position.
Crisp told the Sentinel, “I wanted to serve on the school board because growing up in this county and having kids in the school system has piqued my interest in participating and wanting to give back to the community that built me. Having been a teacher in the trades for the last 17+ years, I feel qualified and confident in my ability to help set policies and procedures to improve the education and quality of life for teachers and students. Go DADE!”
Josh Ingle (superintendent) told the Sentinel that the goal is to have Crisp sworn in by the June board meeting.
The board also approved a personnel report at the May 13th meeting:
- Resignations (end of FY24 school year): Janet Greene, Natoshia Leight, Michelle Poore
- Hire: Cori Clark, Heidi Maldonado (student worker)
- Transfer: Heath Johnson, Autumn Holden
