Wooten Re-elected to City Commission, Ten Percent Voter Turnout

The unofficial results of the November 7th City of Trenton election show that only 10.01 percent of registered voters showed up to the polls. In Trenton, 2,478 residents are registered voters, but only 248 cast a ballot in this election. The contested position of street commissioner received more votes than the other two uncontested seats.

Absentee Ballots: 4

Advance Voters: 155

Election Day Voters: 89

For the position of mayor, Alex Case (incumbent) was re-elected with 195 votes, and 14 unresolved write-ins were counted.

For street commissioner, Monda Wooten (incumbent) won with 151 votes, while Johnny Taylor received 94 votes. Two unresolved write-ins were counted.

For fire/utilities commissioner, Lucretia Houts (incumbent) was re-elected with 204 votes, and seven unresolved write-ins were counted.

Wooten said, “I want to thank the citizens of Trenton for entrusting me with another term, and my opponent, John Taylor, for being a true gentleman during this campaign.”
