Tiffany Robertson, mother of Alexis ‘Lexi’ Moore, who was killed in a car accident two and a half years ago, wants to see the vehicular homicide charges dropped for Logan Gordy, the driver and Moore’s boyfriend.

Gordy was driving Moore, and another passenger, on Oct. 3, 2019.

“He was speeding up to get up the hill, and the best he could remember is that an animal ran out in front of him, and he swerved to miss it. He lost control, fishtailed, and when he regained control, he was at the top of the hill and over the yellow line,” Robertson said.

A second vehicle came over the hill and the two vehicles hit head on, on the passenger side.

“Lexi was the passenger, so she died instantly,” Robertson said.

Gordy and the other passenger both sustained multiple injuries. The passengers in the second vehicle sustained minor injuries. Gordy was charged with homicide by vehicle, five counts of serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, and failure to stay in the lane.

“Physically, Logan is fine, but mentally and emotionally, he is a wreck,” Robertson said. “There were no drugs or alcohol involved. It was just an accident.”

Robertson said that the vehicular homicide in the first degree was against her wishes. She wrote a victim impact statement to advocate for Gordy and has spoken to the District Attorney multiple times.

She would prefer the charges to be dropped entirely, but she hopes that Gordy could be charged with a misdemeanor instead and have to do community service or attend a driving class.

“I have gone down there in person and cried and begged for the charges to be dropped, at least as far as Lexi is concerned. I know I don’t have any say in the other charges. If he goes to trial and loses, he is facing 45 years. They offered him a plea and I told him not to take it because it meant jail time and he would be a felon,” Robertson said.

Gordy had to take a year off school, and he has had trouble getting jobs because of the charges.

“There is no punishment that they can give him that he is not dishing out to himself. It is draining him, and it is draining me,” Robertson said.

Moore and Gordy had been in a relationship all throughout high school and he was planning to propose after they graduated.

“Lexi wouldn’t want this,” Robertson said. “She fell head over heels for him. Logan cherished her. He is like a son to me. Essentially, they are taking another child from me. I think I should have some say over this, but they are not even listening to me.”

The Sentinel reached out to the District Attorney for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, but no comment could be given because Gordy’s case is active. Gordy appeared in court for a calendar call on Monday, April 4. His trial is expected to start on April 18.

“I don’t feel like someone else’s life should be ruined because my daughter’s life was taken. There is no justice to be had here,” Robertson said.

One of the first things you learn in defensive driving is do not swerve to avoid animals and this is the reason why. It may have been an accident but if he followed the law the girl would be alive still. He deserves to be punished for the reckless driving and the murder that could have been avoided if he valued a person’s life over an animal.

I do not know this couple, but I can tell you that people who just plane out commit murder do not get this especially now a days. He has to live with what happened…. A Accident…….I live where there are animals and curvy and hills and accidents do happen. Just as I said Accident if the Mother of the girl is forgiving for a accident then YOU the prosecutor in my option are just out for fame and money… ( which most of you are ) if you go thru with this. Try doing your jobs with the real criminals instead of kissing A$$ for the Government.
