Dade County High School Wolverine baseball coach Chris Brown previews the upcoming baseball season, which was set to get started yesterday, Feb. 8 with a scrimmage game against North Murray at Wolverine Field.

Coach Brown stated, “The 2022 Dade County High School baseball team is going to surprise a lot of people this year. After going 14-13 in the regular season in 2021, Dade only lost a few seniors.”

Returning this year will be Nolan Heath and Kaden Moore who were on the 7-AA All-Region first team and Brodie Swader and Brayden Nethery who were on the 7-AA All-Region second team. This group has great senior leaders and some good young talent to go along with it.

Coach Johnny Burch, former head coach at Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe, has been a great addition to our coaching staff this season. He brings over 20 years of coaching experience to our staff, which will benefit our kids.

“I am very honored to be coaching this group. It is going to be a great season and I am excited to see just what this group can do. They have been working their butts off in the off-season and I hope it translates into the season. When this team takes the field, our opponents better be ready for a full out, seven inning fight,” Coach Brown said.

The Wolverines will travel to North Jackson High School on Thursday, Feb. 17 and then be at home on Tuesday, Feb. 22 when they host the Ider Hornets.
